Flex Dance Program Website

This is a Social Good project at Wix Playground 2019. This project has been done by a team with: Rebecca Gladstone and Frances Chi for a nonprofit organization–'Flex Dance Program'. We set a new identity for this organization and designed their website.

Flex is a street style of dance originally from Brooklyn. Flexing is distinguished by its contortionist body movements, and it’s “no-rules” narrative story-telling capabilities with bone braking and gliding dance moves. Flex Dance Program is a NYC nonprofit that brings the community together through Flex Dancing. Through programming in and outside of detention centers, students learn healthy solutions to avoid conflict, enable personal growth, and express themselves.

The old Flex website didn’t have a unique image or style to call their own. We wanted to give them a brand and mark that they could be proud of and identity as their own. We were inspired by Flex’s experimental nature, movement, and Brooklyn vibe. Show the homepage and logo. You can see this through the type and image treatment.

Another challenge we faced was the organization of visual and written content. We wanted to make the information digestible and easy to navigate. By making the content concise, we were able to emphasize the amazing work that Flex does. We found that less is more. Show team page, start clicking the programs. In the old site, the navigation made it challenging for a user to find what they needed. Now, we have a clear menu and call to actions that are visible wherever you go! We took this method to distinguish the three Flex programs as well so you can easily find the program that is best for you. Show menu volunteer and programs.
